CNFC MASTER CLASS: Courting the ‘C’ in CNF

The aspect that attracts writers to CNF – the “C” – can also be the most vexing. In this Master Class, CNFC founder, Betsy Warland, will explain, and help you explore the greater creative possibilities in CNF writing. After a short talk on the parameters of the genre, strategies for recognizing how much and what kinds of creativity each narrative requires will be presented. Possibilities of form, and use of poetic and fiction writing techniques, will also be examined. Concerns, such as authenticity and moral responsibility, that unnecessarily hamper our inventiveness and our narrative’s creative force will be fully discussed. Participants should bring one page of CNF writing for investigating its “C” possibilities.

Date: Friday April 24th
Location: Inn at Laurel Point, Victoria BC
Time: 1:30 – 4:00  pm
Cost: $25 for CNFC members; $40 non-members
Registration now open.
